Hello, friends. I am proud to introduce you to Roggy Eye Clinic!
As a born and raised Iowan, I am proud to build my business in our community. I was raised near Epworth, Iowa, a small town west of Dubuque. I am a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Molecular Biology and Valedictorian of the University of Missouri - St. Louis School of Optometry. I practice full-scope primary eyecare with special interests in pediatrics, post-concussion vision rehabilitation, dry eye, and ocular disease. I have had the pleasure to serve our community for the past 20 years and have known many of my patients through all stages of life.
My extracurricular activities include training athletes through Sports Vision Performance Training for youth through professional athletes. This includes the Iowa City West baseball teams as well as individual youth throughout the community. I am a co-founder of VisioSport through which I train the University of Iowa and Penn State baseball teams, Chicago Cubs Charity teams, as well as professional athletes. I have also been a guest lecturer at the University of Iowa School of Education where I've held workshops for education students and current teachers about vision and vision-related learning problems.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, cycling, cross-fit, music, and spending time with my husband and four children.
Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I look forward to getting to know you!
Dr. Kathy Hotsenpiller majored in biology and earned her undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in Ohio in 1995. After doing cancer research and coordinating oncology clinical trials for four years, she decided to go to optometry school in Chicago. She graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2003. She earned her Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in 2020. She not only enjoys primary eye care but also enjoys fitting patients who have keratoconus or corneal scarring with specialty contact lenses. “The most rewarding thing about fitting patients with scleral lenses is seeing the smile on their faces after they realize how much better they can see!” In her free time, Dr. Hotsenpiller enjoys hot yoga, traveling, and visiting National Parks with her family.
